                      Boy Scouts of America

                                            Troop

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Scout Oath reads “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight”. The Scout Law states, “ A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.”

Hebron United Methodist Church has a long history of support for the programs of Boy Scouts of America. This support started with its first charter in 1959 of Pack 835 and in 1962 of Troop 836, both in the Occoneechee Council. In 1989 Troop 36 was chartered through the Old North State Council of Boy Scouts of America.

Troop 36 enjoys an active outdoor program and is gearing up for more high adventure activities. We have had great success retaining the enthusiasm of our scouts in the past and the future is bright. Our successes can be measured by the number of Eagle Scouts developed through our troop, but most importantly it is measured by the many fond memories and the character and values that these young men will take with them through the rest of their life.
