Meet our Pastor- Bryan Sexton

Pastor Byan
Greetings friend,

My name is Bryan.  I have been the pastor of Hebron church since June 25, 2007.  On that day my wife Pattie, daughter Anna and son Bryan drove into the beautiful landscaped campus of Hebron church and parsonage.  We were greeted, just like you will be, by God’s loving people.  Hebron has the feel of being at home.  The folks are glad to welcome you and to get to know you in a variety of settings ranging from worship services, to Sunday School, to covered dish meals, to Fall Festivals, to Hee Haw programs, to small group ministries like women’s or men’s or youth groups.  We love it here and know that you will too.

My short biography includes a B.A. degree and a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University and four years of military service in the United States Army.  I was ordained an Elder in the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1994.  My greatest joy is to know that God loves me, just as I am.  My greatest comfort is to know that Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten son, loved me enough to give His life on my behalf to satisfy God’s righteous judgment against my sin(s).  My greatest challenge is to know that God wants me to continue to grow in my knowledge of Him and to become like Him as I see His Divine character in Jesus.  My greatest assurance is to know that God does not leave me on my own to accomplish this growth in knowledge and character, but that He has given me His Holy Spirit to be my helper and enabler.  I believe that the Bible is the absolute Truth.  It communicates the person and mind and heart of the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I believe that when we die, we take none of our accomplishments or acquisitions with us.  But what we do take with us are the things that have eternal value.  We should therefore store up treasure in heaven such as experiences and relationships that have sprung forth from the love of God that lives within us.  I am most grateful to God for my family, for without them I would be lost.  With them I have the joy of sharing the richness of life lived in and through our faith in Jesus Christ.  I am also truly grateful to God for my church family with whom I have the same joys.  Friend, I hope you will experience that joy with us.  Our door is always open.  As the sign out front says,  “All are welcome”.
